Senior Domestic Abuse Practitioner
This is a Permanent, Salaried vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.
The role
As a Senior Domestic Abuse Practitioner, you’ll support the management of our safe accommodation services monitoring health and safety building compliance legislation and regulations, managing voids and supporting our tenants in supported accommodation. You’ll help to deliver focused and tailored one-to-one support for survivors to live a life free from abuse.
What you’ll do:
- Process customer referrals, identify risk and support needs, and deliver tailored practical, emotional and advocacy support for both male and female service users.
- Line management and regular supervision of staff to contribute to a safe, flexible, and high-quality support service.
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, attending meetings (e.g. Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences / Safeguarding) and advocating for customers.
- Network and build relationships with community groups, secure fundraising opportunities, and promote the service to enhance its profile and deliver added value to customers.
- Support customers with housing, benefits, tenancy responsibilities, and progression towards their independence.
- Assist in the effective delivery of services, including managing rotas, providing on-call support, maintaining case records, analysing performance data, and contributing to reporting, audits, and funding compliance.
- Ensure properties are ready for tenant move-ins, including furniture setup and relocation as and when required
Who you are:
- A good level of education such as GCSE English and maths, or equivalent.
- Experience delivering support to customers, recognising their individual needs, making sure they have access to opportunities, all while meeting set deadlines.
- Experience supporting adults with complex needs such as relationship abuse, substance misuse and mental health.
- Knowledge and professional working experience of safeguarding.
- Experience of managing a team, completing appraisals and check-ins.
- Knowledge and professional experience of housing and health and safety requirements in a safe accommodation setting.
- An understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact on those affected by it and the legal and practical remedies available to them.
- The ability to work well under pressure and in complex situations.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word, Excel and ability to use these independently.
- Domestic abuse and safeguarding qualifications (desirable or willingness to work towards)
- A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle for work.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a DBS check.
