Salary: £25,564 a year
Location: Stoke on Trent
Hours per week: 37.5
Contract type: Permanent

This is a Permanent, Salaried vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

As a specialist Domestic Abuse Practitioner you’ll support adults and families within our accommodation services, who have been impacted by domestic abuse and require additional, intensive support due to the multiple disadvantages they face. You’ll provide a tailored, person-centred support package to help our customers achieve their goals and live a life free from abuse.

Job requirements

  • Process customer assessments to establish risk, need and requirements. You will then co-ordinate access to a wide range of statutory sector, voluntary sector, and other services appropriate to their needs.
  • Support the customer to make sure they understand their rights and responsibilities within the accommodation when they move in.
  • Work with customers to identify their individual support needs and provide a tailored, person centered support package including housing, health, wellbeing, finances, and safety.
  • Work as part of a multi-agency response to meet the identified needs of customers.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the local services available for people with multiple needs, including their access criteria, and assist in the identification of gaps.
  • Support the customer and advocate for them so they can move on from the service into settled accommodation or return home safely and are empowered with the skills, confidence and support required to live independently.

What we’re looking for

  • A good standard of education, for example GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
  • 2 years experience working with adults with complex needs such as domestic abuse or homelessness.
  • Experience of handling personal data and working in line with GDPR.
  • A genuine understanding of people in abusive relationships. You’ll be their voice so you’ll need great communication skills to provide them with the best support to keep them safe.
  • Be up to date with current issues, laws and best practice in domestic abuse related areas. Have a knowledge of working within professional boundaries and safeguarding policies.
  • Good ICT skills and experience of Microsoft Office. Great problem solving skills and the ability to think quickly on your feet.
  • Able to work independently and remotely, being self-motivated with great time management and the ability to prioritise high-risk cases.
  • Hold Honeycomb Group’s missions and values and let them be at the heart of everything you do.
  • A full UK driving licence and a vehicle suitable for business use.
  • DBS check.
